Fabulous opportunity to join the co-author of the excellent new Pocket Guide book “British & Irish Wildflowers & Plants”, Dr Chris Gibson on a plant hunt at Lower Lodge, Colne Local Nature Reserve, Wivenhoe, Essex. Chris is a knowledgeable & enthusiastic naturalist, & recipient of the David Bellamy Award of the British Naturalists’ Association as a “naturalist of distinction”.

Meet at 10.00am, finish at 12.00 noon.

Over the 2 hours Chris & his partner Jude plan to cover just a slow stroll of 600 metres as there is so much to see on this grass and scrub-land site which is rich in wildflowers and insects.

Lower Lodge was farmland up until the 1980s, and it is managed by sections cut every 3 years, plus paths cut. It has great views over the Colne valley. (The site is continuous with Wivenhoe Woods & Ferry Marsh).
