DESCRIPTION:An afternoon nature walk led by award winning naturalist Dr Chris Gibson who is a BNA Fellow. This fascinating 50 acre community wildlife site contains Cockaynes Wood\, an ancient wood recorded in the Domesday Book\, plus Villa Wood\, Railway Wood & the former Villa Farm quarry. In addition to ancient woodland it has dry heath\, grassy meadows & shallow ponds\, a mixture of habitats that hold a diverse range of species. Chris will be particularly looking for Spring flowers & insects. TM052 216. \nOff Alresford Road\, CO7 8DA\, between Wivenhoe & Alresford\, the entrance can be found on the Wivenhoe side of Alresford railway bridge. Meet at entrance (there is parking for about 6 cars at the entrance for the site\, some further parking may be possible at a layby 200m towards Arlesford). \n
